13/07/2005: Arcana Section Updated, Magic tidied, Psi powers revamped, Faith redone, Priests can now intimidate/scare off demons. Psi and Faith are soon to have their own record sheets with appropriate tables etc. Bit of tidying here and there, better table formating and a few minor improvements to the site.
5/07/2005:- NEW Character Sheet and Magic Sheets, neater with much better explanations. Generation and Arcana sections updated to match, some minor terminology changes to make things easier to understand through out the site. Discussion Board opened. If your looking for a game or players near you this is the place to advertise. A bit of tidying here and there.

6/02/2005:- New section 'Game Ideas', lots of little changes here and there. Demon possession rules a bit clunky, looking at simplifying. Undercity, over computers and precious stones soon to be addressed.
19/01/2005:- Happy New YEAR!! phoot!.. Well wot's happened over the last month. Main character sheet has had a proper face lift, sections rearranged and things simplified, Language skill included, commonly made rolls boxes and the sheet over all 1neatened. The Magic Character Sheet has been revamped to match, Clearer fonts more included rules. Demon possession rules and Excess magic points simplified. Circle restrictions formalised and included in magic section, Arcana updated and tidied. Site has finally had that face lift I've been putting off. Still fleshing out races. Started racial histories, various sections reworded and a couple of tweaks here and there that I've forgotten.
23/12/2004:- Merry X-mas or what every you belive in... AIs have been expanded upon, formalising 'Droids' as a player option. They are in the Hardware and Races section.
13/12/2004:- Character sheet has had a face lift. All the info is the same its just a bit easier on the eyes. Working on a world history PDF. The system PDF is where its always been, on the 'creature' page..
7/12/2004:- Arcana simplified. Duration now based on Darkness and simpler to understand and run. Magic Character Sheet explaination streamlined now takes up half the space. Spell and shock check requirements formalised, some minor rule changes to rituals etc.. Need to spell check the spells again. 'permanance' only requires Darkness to be permenantly spent (can be regained with XP). Indepth spell explanaitons and a list of 'circle' established spells... hopefully to be be added to the Equipment section some time soonish. Faith section soon to be expanded.
24/11/2004:- New skill/merit added Talents, Races edited and abilities moved to same page, racial bonus simplified to a straight bonus, generation packages dropped, Character sheet modified and tidied, re-included 'type' of weapon damage, DAM renamed W'Dam, Injury Type and some other wordings changed to avoid confusion. Extra wound dots removed to avoid confusion. Grenades added to weapon charts, Edited Equipment currency etc. Some Pictures moved to alternate hosts to cut down on bandwidth usage. Sorry about being down for a day. Glossary still not up dated... but no-one uses it..

31/08/2004:- Currency system has had an overhaul. Money is now based on a more historically correct silver system, the exchange rates and Circle involment has been re-explained. The equipment costs are to be re-assessed, but for now stand.(Thanx Sal) See Equipment
14th June 2004:- Well a whole lot has changed over the month but was not dated.. The character sheet has had the arcana range chart added, Area of Effect damage is no longer halved to make it more effective and easier to run, 3Rnds is back to adding ONE extra wound damage, Ghosting is now officially a part of Arcana. Ideally it should be completely in line with the arcana rules, but for now it stradles the arcana rules and its own. childer, Gnome and Dwarven race descriptions expanded slightly. Trade politics added to Other Rules, Werewolves expanded, Hardware section expanded but not up yet. Some Spell Checking and slightly better explanations included here and there..
12th May 2004:- Character sheet has had critial injury wound loss included as well as a To Hit box to speed play, Injury Record has been modified so the standard sheet suits average Characters. Short and Long burst has been renamed 3rounds and Full Auto, damage bonus is now to Success Level rather than wounds (effectively the same thou) The Tripod Mirror has been updated as well as the PDF. See Creatures of Darkness Added short fairy tale to the end of System Summary . Am working on a 'Hardware' section, cyberware etc.
30th April 2004:- Ghosting has had a re-write, World & Maps is interactive (sorry about the bugs still working on that). Weapon damage has been increased, knives and knuckledusters now do something and everything else has been increased by about 2pts. Creature wounds have been changed See Other Rules. Changed a font, XP doesn't have the font I was using. Defence Rating Rule Change there is now no +/-5 maximum or minimum. Multiple Weapons and Martial Arts now Reduce REC by 1 (minimum REC of 2 ) See Combat.The Character Sheets have more info on them. The PDFs on the Creature Site Are Woefully behind the current rules...

3rd February 2004:- Its funny how you can't really proof-read something till its printed out... I've noticed a lot of typo's in the PDF document, which are being fixed. Magic Duration has had an update, the PDF is now behind the site. Its based on character skill and how far with in that skill a magic is cast. Also augmenting magic with extra MP has been defined. I have been working on reformatting to make the PDF easier to generate and therefore more up to date.
27th January 2004:- Darkness is now available as a PDF file which is on the 'Creatures of Darkness' page for bandwidth reasons. It is abridged but all the important stuff is there. It's readily printable for those of you who have requested an off-line version. Also the equipment lists are now available as PDFs to simplify printing.
23nd January 2004:- Shock rule Overhaul. Shock Checks are still required when injured but at Injury Penalty rather than at the damage. Should make combats more heroic less and less desperate. Augmenting Magic effects with MP requires Shock Checks at total MP spent penalty(-darkness) Failed magic rolls require the same check. Dropping the optional fitness & shock rules for a more simple Shock Check at GM's digression. Eg lots of; spells, running fighting etc.
In play testing I noticed that I was neglecting the penalties to make things fairer on players to the extent that the rules needed a change. Also the augmenting rule was in use game but not on the site. Also I hadn't used the optional Shock/Fitness rules forever so they went.
Injury penalty refers to the penalties caused by injuries (Chart on character sheet near the wound record[the 'little man'])
Some reference to the old rules might be up for a while till I track it all down and kill it so just pretend its already dead, and E-mail me if you spot them...(if you have spotted it chances are no-one else has 'coz if they had I would have fixed it already!!!)
It should make players more conscious of their injuries and the associated penalties but give them a better chance to stay 'conscious' during battles. I never liked the original Extended shock rules but it was a left over from an original game concept. Shock was intended to be used more for story telling but it had become too mechanical and cantankerous to be so.... New simpler system should emphasis story telling...

3rd January 2004- New section Other Rules this include alot of needed GM rules info its not as polished as I'd like but it explains some things that have been alluded to but not defined... Also another peice of the Zarg-nar story. All the stories sort of fit together even though their order is random. A Lady Wronged . When the mood takes me I'll connect them all together...

I've been a bit lazy of late not too much to report some stuff has been moving in the background, a section for the GM's rule type stuff and other things are growing slowly but they're not ready to post yet.. I've added another chapter in the Zarg-nar story it's a short one, mostly a teaser. The Crone. All the best in the New Year!!!

20th november 2003:- there has been a lot of stuff going on in the background that hasn't been put up here, such as some new art (GM advice [no I don't always look like that] and generation/human female) Thanx Cynicat. There is a new short story in Inspiration, 'Rain' explains a bit of undercity and dark elvin history. New section Generation Packages further defines racial bonuses and makes some suggestions for character skill/career paths. The section will grow as I have time or people make sugestions (hint hint) Elvin infection rule has been simplified. The twin cities is in the middle of an edit and should appear shortly (thanx aaron) Another short story is in the works and maybe some dragon history. A new magic item (thanx Cam)and more to come. New religion in faith section Druidic Paganism

I'm slowly doing more general background work.. Again more stuff that's in my head that hasn't made it to the site... Just having difficulty figuring out how to present it effectively. Also done a bit of general house keeping.. also made the E-mail picture Move again..
15 September 2003:- Lots and Lots of changes... Arcana section has had a rewrite to make somethings clearer, duration addressed, Basically added stuff that was clear in my head but wasn't up on the website. So print out the new MCS (which WILL be changing format again shortly so don't make too many copies, rules should stay same though)
NEW!! CharacterSheet Have completely dropped the Light Wound rule, it was causing some confusion and it never really affected play the way it was meant to, it was a left over from when wound boxes were only filled once and damage was more lethal, it was once relevant but no more. The Light Wound result has been removed from the damage chart and damage to increased. The Wound chart has also been renamed Effect to save confusion as it has always been used for other things not just Wounds but now everyone else knows....
The Creatures of Darkness finally has a summary, should make game writing easier just figure where and how you want the Party attacked and the summary will help you find 'candidates'. Soon the Creature section will receive some of the attention that it deserves... Am dropping the XP purchasing of specialisation... I never liked it and included to keep the concept of character freedom..... but its gone and I am happy again. These changes and many other changes that have been made are the results of play testing with my own group ..... (thanx guys)

3 September 2003:- I been away a while.... Actually I have done some updates but not been mentioning them in here... The creature section has been expanded and actually turned into a sister site. If you got that creative bug and want write up suitable beasties go for it and I'll even publish them for you.. see Creatures of Darkness. Have started running a new adventure to get the bugs out of the magic system... (progressing) Have plans to up weapon damages. Have an artist doing sketches and artworks and stuff to spruce the place up a bit (thanx Hayley) and had a lot of creative input presently (Thanx Aaron). I've moved some stuff off the site that was not specific to Darkness... see Linx to OtherStuff. Had a drop in traffic to the site.. However the traffic that I am getting are actually staying and looking around rather than just bouncing off and wasting my bandwidth.. So with any luck I won't be down as often...

5 May 2003 - This site got taken down for a couple of days 'coz it went over bandwidth.. So I've made a lot of files smaller to keep it down. So finally changed the main colour scheme but the rest of the site is still to catch up. Hopefully this will be much more readable...

Brought the Creature section back in line with the rest of the system. (moral vs sanity) I've always wanted to keep the rules constant thru out the system not sacrificing simplicity for speed so I'm going thru and fixing that. Problem arise when trying to speed things up, new rules appear for speed but they complicate things..etcetc So I'm fixing that up...well trying at least..

Finally its done, the WorldMap is complete enough to be called a world map. I still have a whole bunch a ideas, I'll do up Vlarden and Sephardishe main streets and might setup a point and click for it, but for now It stays as is so I can work on other things... Point and clik up for Magic Character Sheet, but needs tidy up. Now I've got to go back and rewrite Arcana and Combat to make sure everything fits together. Gonna have to crash test the MCS properly so I'm planning another campagn, but still got some GM burn out.. Encounters needs some improving, Undercity map needs finishing, all sections need rechecking, have I missed anything?. And I've had some Ideas for some Art work for the equipment section... Not enough hours in the day....Oh and tidied up this page again and submitted to some search engines..

Created a point and click summary of the Character Sheet. Looks like I will have to to similar for the magic character sheet when its finished. Did some updating in the glossary, hope I got it all.. Map is progressing but not ready to post more yet I'll eventually do a point and clik for it too. Added the search box.

Finally found enough software to finish the map. After countless attempts at drawing it in 'paint' and looking for software to get it done I finally was able to get it finished.. There is more planned but that involves moving it to yet another software pakage so that I can mark the roads and cities etc.... The first package I used was incredible and if given enough hardware would have allowed me to map every peice of litter on every street. Excessive but complete.... Much happier with what I've got and with luck should be able to grow into something even better.. the map page finally has a half good map... Oh yeah fiddled with the beasts section its now called encounters... rather than just having monsters to eat your players with I'll actually include some simple 'encounters' not just a monster but a situation, ain't done it yet but it's comming. It'll be to give GM's Ideas and quick run scenarios...

Well as promised I have posted the Undercities page still a work in progress but it should do enough to give you an idea what they look like. Still finalizing the spells on the Magic Character Sheet (MCS?). I have been tidying and adding to stuff lately here and there Zarg-nar has been added to and re-edited. Glossary has been tweaked and so has the races section in fact alot has been tweaked and tidied....With the new character sheet the summary section might be completely dropped or I'll put up a graphical explanation of the rules on the character sheet. Dunno?.

Have improved the asthetics of the Character Sheet to the same level as the Magic Character sheet. Have continued work on the world map (sorry not ready to post yet). Placed more direct links on to the main page for easier navigation. Going to start a page on the futuristic UnderCities..

The Magic Character Sheet has been added.... This superceeds the magic summary and gives magic using characters an extra sheet to put every thing on. It should with a read of the rules explain everything. The Glossary has been added to. The magic section is a little behind the new sheet and the spell listing is not quite complete but it's enough to be funcional. Have realised that I can't change the name, Darkness has just been there to long. Will soon be adding info on the UnderCities.

Have revamped the character sheet and placed more info directly on the sheet...One of the original concepts of the system was to have everything on the sheet to save on rules checking but the system had grown since the sheet was originally created; new rules have crept in to simplify things, speed play and cover things not included in the original rules... I have been Running for about two years now and am now taking a rest. I need time to build up some new story lines and remove some more bugs so the site should see some wholesale changes... Have changed the Specialization rule. It can now be bought with a x10 modifier the old trade off's between feilds is still in effect but this should allow more room to grow an experienced character..... D.R., B.M., etc no longer have the Periods (.) no DR DM etc the glossary will be updated soon. I will soon be building a better magic section. Explaining more and providing a separate Arcana character sheet. The system will stay the same as it is now but will actually make sense... Also the summary sheets will either be scrapped or further simplified....removed the counter and guest book because they were run on the old server and never have worked with the new site they will return eventually. I couldn't bring myself to drop the name Darkness so for now its stays...

Well I been and got married. For those of you who are incredibly interested I've uploaded the Photos. The pics are huge and unedited and they are mine, so there. Sorry I haven't done an update here for ages I've been too busy with wedding stuff and finishing off what was supposed to be the wedding car a Chrysler Centura. Updates well... the site is offically moving to demonground.topcities.com I will be deleteing the other site and will only keep them updated to get people to this site...(that is assuming that I can't get the Darkness.topcities address but I think that Darkness as a RPG has sort of been used by another, so the games Tittle may be changed...). Deamonground has been changed to Demonground I liked the funky spelling but the god damn 'a' kept moving so deamons/daemons are now just demons.

Finally uploaded the updates and went thru and made even some more impovements.. Have managed to get a Html Compression program that gets rid of all the unnecessary spaces etc and makes quite an improvement to browsing speed but Geocities Won't let me upload the files!!! So if you've got a slow machine go to deamonground.topcities.com/darkness.html where they do allow me to upload the improved files... I haven't decided if that will be my primary site and which will be the forgotten about mirror.. so bookmark both I'm creating yet another mirror at Demonground.topcities.com/darkness.html and eventually that might be the main site.. easier to remember etc

Twiddled the speil yet again. Put Mord and Fipps' Shark in the beast section, put a sample deity in the faith section, put up a really dodgey version of the map (sorry), added to the timeline. Tidied up generally here, there and every where. Haven't uploaded this to the web yet so the date here and when it'll actually get posted will be different.

Fiddled more with main menu to make it load faster. Most of the pages are now smaller. Did some more proofreading & editing. The character sheet can now be viewed on-line or downloaded as a zipped BMP. Next on the agenda is a summary page for the system.

Main Rules now links to a .HTML page instead of a .TXT page. I'm still not happy its an improvment. Alot of rules therein have been superceeded so other rules on the site are more currant. I've split the orignal txt file in to two sections the rules and the World which is on a link in Game world Its rough too the time line explains more but together they make sense.

The Game world link Goes somewhere.. Characters, Campaign overview, and a snazzy half finished Time line..Game history is still dead at the moment its probably the last thing I'll finish . It will explain the reasoning behind alot of the game rules. Also lost the Other section that was to have site history etc and started this bit. (that why a bit further down the format is different)
